Rockville has several scientific research and technology laboratories that focus on the aerospace, electronics, nuclear energy, and communications industries. Rockville is home to the largest Biotech corridor in the US. The Food and Drug Administration is in Rockville, as is the main campus of Montgomery College.

The Town Square Plaza, located between Maryland Avenue and Gibbs Street, has become a popular gathering spot for families and friends, and the hot spot for community events, festivals and concerts. A fountain that sprays water in Town Square has become a delight for children, and the pavilion houses the stage in Town Square.
